Respect For God

 The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge. Proverbs 1:7

"Why do you always have to do that?" Gwen asked, as she poked her head in her brother's room.

"Do what?" Scottie looked at her puzzled.

"Misusing God's name like that just because your friends do." Gwen folded her arms. "My friends and I heard you at the mall today. Every time your friends are around, you do that."

Scottie waved her away. "You're just mad becaus you're not cool."

"At least I know one thing you don't: disrespect for God's name isn't cool. And that makes you not cool." Gwen went off to her room. Scottie threw a pillow after her, which landed harmlessly on the floor.

What does she know? he thought. He hadn't meant anything by what he said. God doesn't care about stuff like that, does He? he thought. Suddenly, he wasn't so sure about that.
