He Took it All Away!
Written by Kyle Shultz
Who Himself bore our sins in His own body on the tree, that we, having died to
sins, might live for righteousness- by whose stripes you were healed. 1 Peter 2:24
This verse gives us a very descriptive and yet beautiful depiction of what Christ
has done for us. The reason so many Christians have a hard time walking in the
fullness of Christ is that many can't get past the lies of the enemy telling them that
there is something that is lacking in their own lives. I say this because for a great
while I was crippled by the deception of the enemy that told me that there was a
gap between the Lord and me. Because I gave power to this lie, I felt that I had
to perform to please the Lord and in a sense make myself righteous. Now the enemy
uses many lies to distract believers from Christ. You may have dealt with this one
in particular in the past or maybe you believe this now. I think it's so easy to
believe this because we have an earthly view of forgiveness. When we mess up with
people, it's to our benefit that we own up to mistakes. But because we're not perfect
we'll need to eventually ask for forgiveness and freely forgive.
When we accept Christ's forgiveness, He forgives all. His forgiveness transcends
time and takes away every sin that will ever be committed. On that cross He drank
the whole cup of our transgressions and you are completely free and forgiven. To
live in His righteousness, all He asks is that you bring anything out of place
in the light, embrace His forgiveness, and ask that He pour out Christ in your life
that you may live in His righteousness. He is ready to embrace you
